Eco-friendly textile printing

October 21, 2021

When it comes to textile printing, there is a perception that the inks contain harmful chemicals and the fabric is sourced from anywhere and everywhere.

That is not the case with us, we take our environmental responsibility very seriously and do everything we can to reduce our waste and keep our production clean. To do this we undertake the following steps:

  1. Use of reactive inks which not only boasts superior rub and wash fastness but also conforms to Oeko-tex standard 100, meaning they contain no harmful chemicals, Our R&D department investigated the inks and also came to the conclusion that with a 99,99% certainty, all of the materials that we use in the production processes of our inks are synthetic and in no way animal products are used
  2. We source our fabric direct from the mill in Pakistan who are BCI members, the fabrics are 100% cotton or cotton linen mix and by the start of 2021 all of our stock fabrics will also be organic which will have all certification for.
  3. As part of our digital printing process, we wash our fabrics at up to 70 degrees to remove any preparation solution and unfixed dyes. The waste water is then processed through an effluent plant and released back to public water treatment processing plants.
  4. Everything we make is bespoke and to order, meaning we don’t have redundant stock sitting around which would eventually be thrown away. Any waste fabric (which is very infrequent) we reuse in other processes within the factory.

As a company we are continuously looking at ways we can improve what we do and how we do it, if you would like any more information please email info@magictextiles.co.uk or call 01538388877
